Herend Unveils a Special Collection for Azerbaijan to Commemorate Victory Day

Herend, the world’s preeminent manufacturer of luxury handcrafted porcelain, has unveiled a bespoke collection for Azerbaijan, created in collaboration with Italdizain to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Victory in the war for the liberation of the Karabakh lands. Victory Day is celebrated annually on the 8th of November.

Each piece in the set is adorned with the image of the Khari-bulbul orchid (Caucasian ophrys, Latin: Ophrys caucasica. Its Azerbaijani name, Xarıbülbül, literally means "nightingale's thorn."). A breathtaking lilac-and-gold flower that flourishes in Shusha and its environs, the Khari-bulbul became the official symbol of Azerbaijan's victory in the Second Karabakh War in 2020. It also serves as a tribute to the memory of the Azerbaijani soldiers who fell in the struggle to reclaim the historic lands of Karabakh. The collection comprises a tea set, a cake plate, and a vase, all united by a cohesive artistic vision and a finely detailed drawing. The highly artistic and realistic painting is the masterful handiwork of Herend’s virtuoso artists, based on sketches crafted exclusively for this new collection.

Italdizain always approaches its collaborative partnerships with exceptional care. And its alliance with Herend is no exception. The leading Hungarian manufactory, which will celebrate its bicentennial in 2026, has long earned the venerable title "the porcelain of kings." Its esteemed clientele includes the ruling dynasties of Great Britain, Belgium, Japan, Brunei, Oman, and Thailand, alongside U.S. presidents and distinguished aristocratic and entrepreneurial families such as the Habsburgs, Liechtensteins, and Rothschilds. The magnificent creations of Herend's masters grace the interiors of the American White House, the European Parliament, and the Hungarian Presidential Palace. The brand's boutiques occupy the most prestigious locations in the world's major cities, from Paris's Rue de Rivoli and New York's Fifth Avenue to Tokyo's Ginza district and Los Angeles's Rodeo Drive. Herend porcelain is also featured in legendary luxury department stores, including Harrods, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Mitsukoshi, and Takashimaya.

The secret to Herend's superlative quality lies in its dedication to tradition, seamlessly integrated with the mastery of cutting-edge technologies. The brand’s philosophy embodies the integrity and harmony of the universe by uniting the four elements: earth (the pristine white clay from which the porcelain is born), fire, which rages in the kilns, water, with which artists dilute their pigments, and air, essential for both the firing process and the setting of the painted designs. Herend releases its collections in limited editions or creates exclusive lines for custom orders. Each piece undergoes a multi-stage creation process – sometimes as many as twenty steps – from hand-casting and sculpting decorative relief elements to firing, hand-painting, and gilding. For the entire two centuries of the manufactory's existence, the secrets of working with porcelain have been passed directly from master to apprentice. Yet, the brand is also open to innovation: attuned to contemporary design trends, Herend constantly develops and introduces new shapes, colors, and decorative techniques.
