Ikos Resorts arrives in Crete as Ikos Kissamos officially opens today

The new project marks the largest investment in Crete’s hospitality sector to date, further strengthening Ikos Group’s leadership in Mediterranean hospitality ten years after the opening of its first resort. Over the past decade, the Greek brand has established itself as a pioneer in the luxury “all-inclusive à la carte” segment.

30 April 2026: As planned, the world’s leading luxury all-inclusive resort brand, Ikos Resorts, proudly announces the opening of Ikos Kissamos today. The launch of the island’s first and most ambitious luxury resort has already generated significant demand, and the property is expected to operate at near full occupancy from day one.

Ikos Kissamos is located in the Chania region, stretching along a pristine 600-metre beachfront on the shores of Kissamos Bay. Surrounded by sand dunes and lush gardens, the resort promises an atmosphere of serene relaxation immersed in the breathtaking natural beauty of Crete. Designed to blend seamlessly into its surroundings, the new resort spans more than 53 acres and features landscaped gardens across eight distinct environments. The architecture draws inspiration from Crete’s cultural heritage, harmoniously combining contemporary bohemian design with Mediterranean warmth through the use of natural materials such as wood, stone, and organic fabrics. Low-rise buildings have been thoughtfully integrated into the landscape, creating a true sanctuary dedicated to balance, tranquility, and wellbeing.

As with all Ikos resorts, the property offers the brand’s signature “à la carte all-inclusive” concept. One of the defining highlights of Ikos Kissamos is its curated collection of refined dining experiences. Particular attention is drawn to Kriti, a restaurant dedicated to authentic Cretan cuisine, where traditional island dishes are elevated through sophisticated culinary techniques using fresh locally sourced ingredients.

Guests will also have the opportunity to explore Crete’s most picturesque destinations beyond the resort through the Local Discovery programme. This includes complimentary use of a stylish MINI Countryman electric vehicle, access to local museums and galleries, as well as dining experiences at some of the island’s finest restaurants personally selected by the resort team.

Located close to Ikos Kissamos is the famous Gramvousa Island also known as the “pirate island” which can be reached directly by boat from the hotel. The Falassarna Beach, renowned for its turquoise waters and spectacular sunsets, and the Balos Lagoon, completing the area’s dramatic coastal scenery, are equally unmissable. Both Falassarna and Balos were included among the “Top 10 Beaches in the World” in the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards 2026.

Further afield, the beaches of Elafonissi and Kedrodasos captivate visitors with rare natural beauty, sand dunes, and emerald waters. Resort guests will also have the opportunity to visit Chania Old Town, the major archaeological museum, and the port of Kissamos while discovering the region’s renowned culinary traditions. For travellers seeking adventure, Western Crete offers iconic natural landmarks, including the Samaria Gorge and Preveli Beach, where palm forests, rivers, and the sea merge into a unique ecosystem.

Like all resorts within the Ikos portfolio, Ikos Kissamos fully adheres to the brand’s sustainability and environmental standards. These include eliminating single-use plastics, achieving zero landfill waste, 100% water reuse, composting organic waste, and implementing a roadmap to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030. In addition, the resort has already received LEED Gold certification, confirming that all buildings on the property meet internationally recognised green building standards. Ikos’ comprehensive sustainability ecosystem is designed to strengthen local biodiversity and ensure that tourism has a long-term positive impact on the environment.

The resort’s strong connection with Crete is also reflected in its partnerships with local producers and artisans from regional food suppliers to skilled craftspeople. More than 70% of the ingredients used across the resort’s restaurants are sourced from around the island, with particular emphasis placed on seasonal produce, traditional cooking methods, and generations of culinary expertise, allowing every guest to experience the authentic spirit of this remarkable destination.

Combining relaxed luxury with the highest standards of all-inclusive hospitality, Ikos Kissamos is delighted to welcome guests to the picturesque shores of Kissamos Bay.
